The self help materials and resources listed below are based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) which has been shown to be very effective in the treatment of depression, anxiety and related common problems.
CBT is a type of therapy that looks at how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours interact and is focused on the here and now. Self help materials are available in book format, computer format (computerised cognitive behaviour therapy), CD's, tapes and DVD's.
In Greenwich you can access FearFighter a computerised cognitve behaviour therapy package for panic and phobias. You can self refer to FearFighter by calling Greenwich Mind on 0208 8531735 between 10-3 (Mon-Fri).

Living Life to the Full is a free computer based life skills course which you can access by clicking on the link below. The Living Life to the Full course uses a self-help format and the CBT model in helping people develop life skills that help them tackle feelings of low mood, stress and distress.Mindfulness is another type of treatment that helps people change the way they think, feel and act. It helps them to break free from a downward spiral of negative thought and action, and make positive choices that support their wellbeing.
Mindfulness can help with recurrent depression, anxiety disorders and addictive behaviour – and other mental and physical problems including stress and chronic pain.
